2009-2010 Policies and Guidelines

I.   Parent and Student Responsibilities:

A.                 Please be prompt for lessons.  Please remain quietly in waiting area and do not come into dance room until instructor calls your class.  If a student is more than 10 minutes late for class, he/she will not be allowed to participate.  This ensures proper warm-up.

B.                 It is strongly recommended that students purchase a copy of their routine music.  Instructors will take orders when they begin learning their dance.  The cost is $2.00 and will be added to your bill.

C.                 Parents are responsible for keeping in contact with the group and instructor to make certain they are aware of what is going on.  (Scheduled performances, costumes, dues, etc.)  Bulletins are posted and sent home periodically with your child, so make sure and check them.  The studio phone number is 798-0609.  Kerri's home phone is 758-9519, and Holli's is 758-8467.

D.                 Parents are responsible to keep current on all fees.  Students will not be allowed to participate in recitals if a balance is owed.  Bills are set out at the beginning of the month.

E.                  Parents must closely supervise all youngsters.  It is distracting to the students when children are running around.  It is also a safety issue.  Please also make sure to pick up the toys your child plays with.

F.    Parents and students must commit to attending scheduled performances as part of Dantz Dynamix.  We will inform you in advance of the dates. All students are expected to attend.

G.        Students are expected to put forth an effort to practice throughout the week and to come to class prepared.  This does not mean questions or uncertainties are not allowed as long as each student is making an honest effort.

H.    Parents are encouraged to contact either Holli or Kerri if you have a suggestion aimed at improving a dancer's experience or the overall organization.

I.    Parents are responsible for picking up their child(ren) promptly after the class ends.

J.    Parents are expected to contact either Holli or Kerri or your child's instructor if you have a concern or question.

K.    Parents are responsible for filling out an add/drop form for any changes in enrollment.  Instructor must first sign it and then it should be turned into the office.  This is how your bill is calculated.  You have 3 weeks from the date of registering to drop a class.  After this date, you are responsible for paying for the remainder of the semester.

II.                Instructors:

A.   Instructors will choose the classes and maintain the right to make changes they feel are necessary for the benefit of the class.

B.                 Instructors will choose the music for the routines. Requests and/or suggestions are gladly accepted, but the instructor will have the final say.

C.                 Instructors and students have the right to a class free of discipline issues.  If a student consistently disrupts class, a short time-out may be used and the parents will be notified.  If the problem persists, your child may be asked to withdraw from the class.

III.             Treats:

A.                 Treats are frequently given to the students after class.  If you prefer your child not to have a treat, please let us know in advance of class.

B.                 If you would like to bring a special treat for a special occasion, please advise your instructor in advance.  This would be fun!

 IV.              Costumes:

A.   Instructors will pick out 2-5 costumes for each group and the group will vote on 1. Parents or guardians are responsible for paying for them, plus a shipping charge.  A $30.00 deposit will be added to your October bill and the balance will be added to your November bill.  Average costume/tight fee is $50.00-$60.00.  COSTUMES WILL NOT BE GIVEN OUT UNTIL YOUR BILL IS CURRENT.

B.                 At no time will costume books be available to students or parents to browse through.  When the group's costume has been chosen, you will be allowed to view that costume only.

C.                 Instructors typically size the students for their costumes, which is based on a size chart that the company provides.  Costumes are not made specifically to fit your child; therefore, it is not an exact science.  If you would like to choose your child's costume size, please let the instructor know.  Please understand that if you chose to exchange/return your costume, you will be responsible for all applicable restocking and shipping charges. (unless it is a company error)

D.                 If your child quits after the costumes have been ordered, you are still responsible for the costume fee if it cannot be cancelled.  If it can be cancelled, you are responsible for all cancellation fees.

V.                 Recitals:

A.                 There are two recitals per year: January 22/23, which includes all first semester students.  The spring recital is April 30/May 1 and includes all second semester students.

B.                 Attendance is mandatory at all recitals and dress rehearsals.  Recitals are held on Saturdays with dress rehearsals on Fridays.  Flowers will be for sale at recitals by the Idaho Fusion dance team if you wish to purchase some for your dancer.

C.                 There will be two shows per recital: an afternoon one and an early evening one.  Your dancer will perform in one. (With the exception of some older groups and the dance team.  They may perform in both).  Please be advised that if you have more than one child or take more than one class, there is a possibility of them performing in different recitals.  We do our best to accommodate as many families as possible.

D.                 DVD's are available for purchase. Approximate cost is $18.00.

E.                  All students will remain backstage with cast mothers/fathers/chaperones in classrooms during recitals.  You may also remain backstage with your dancer if necessary.  No dancers will be allowed in the audience at any time.

1.                  Props for routines, tap, jazz, and/or ballet shoes, costume/tights, recital fees, practice wear, pictures (optional), accessories for recitals (if we choose to order any)

C.                 Final April Bills:

All classes will receive at least 31 regular scheduled lessons from September - May 1 (Wednesday & Thursday classes = 31 and Monday and Tuesday classes = 32). Some months have more than 4 lessons and some have less.  In addition, most classes will receive 2 'All Studio Practices' which brings the yearly total to 34 for Monday and Tuesday classes and 33 for Wednesday and Thursday classes. Therefore, any student receiving more than 32 yearly lessons will be charged accordingly on their Final April bill.  Therefore, your April bill (final bill) could be larger than the rest.  For the students who will not be participating in the 'All Studio Practices,' and/or have not received any additional lessons past 32 will not have a larger final bill in April.  For those students who do not receive at least 32 yearly lessons, your April bill will be smaller as we will credit you.

D. LATE FEE: A $10.00 late fee per month will be applied to any account that is behind.

E.                  Submitting Payments:

1. If you are paying your bill by some method other than credit or debit card, find your bill in the file box, paper clip your payment to the bill, and drop it in the wooden payment box.
